Manufacturing has stabilized in New
Jersey and regained many of the jobs that were lost
during the
2001–2003 economic downturn. Today New Jersey
manufacturers employ about 320,000 full-time workers,
nearly 10 percent of the state’s entire private-sector
work force. The state is a national leader in a number
of manufacturing/consumer product industries, including
pharmaceuticals, chemicals, electronics, and machinery
and equipment. Since more than 60 million consumers with
a collective purchasing power of $1 trillion live within
overnight delivery of New Jersey, the state is an ideal
location for manufacturers to set up operations. New
Jersey’s outstanding transportation infrastructure —
including deepwater ocean ports — helps speed delivery
of consumer products to their regional, national, and
international markets. |
