Utility Rate Programs |
|
New Jersey’s major utility
companies provide a number of incentives, including
rebates for the installation of high efficiency equipment
and rate discounts or waivers for businesses that build or
expand into targeted urban centers. Electric credits may
be available to firms that lease or purchase, and occupy,
a minimum amount of vacant space as designated by the
utility.

Service Rate |
|
To qualify for this special
reduced rate a new or existing PSE&G customer with a
single service connection must be located within the
municipal boundaries one of the following cities:

Each Public Service Electric &
Gas (PSE&G) customer will be required to submit a signed
Application for Area Development Service to obtain this
rate. To be eligible for credits under this special
provision, new and existing customers must meet minimum
load conditions.
- In the case of existing
customers, a base year period consisting of twelve
Monthly Peak Demands in kilowatts will be determined
by Public Service and must be agreed to by the
customer prior to institution of any credits.
- For existing customers, the
average twelve-month minimum load must be no less
than 50 kilowatts of applicable Monthly Peak Demand
during the previous twelve months.
- To qualify for credits,
existing customer Monthly Peak Demands must be at
least 125% for three consecutive months after PSE&G’s
acceptance of an application.
- For existing customers who
operate under the minimum load an addition of at
least 50 kilowatts of applicable Monthly Peak
Demands in comparable months of the previous 36
months is required to qualify for credits.
- For new customers, the
minimum load must be no less than 25 kilowatts of
the applicable Monthly Peak Demand.
Credits begin the first month
after qualification.

New Jersey Energy Use Tax
Exemption |
|
The New Jersey Business
Retention and Relocation Assistance Act and it
subsequent amendment exempts certain PSE&G customers
from New Jersey’s Sales and Use Tax on energy. Certain
manufacturing businesses employing a minimum of 250 people
within an Urban Enterprise Zone may qualify. For more

New Jersey Smart Start
Buildings Program: |
|
This statewide energy-efficiency
program is available through all of New Jersey’s electric
and gas utility companies. It is designed to offer
incentives for upgrading to high-energy-efficiency
equipment.
The program also offers design support for larger projects
and technical assistance for smaller projects.
