Brownfield Redevelopment
The New Jersey
Department of Environmental Protection estimates that there are
about 10,000 brownfields sites in the state of New Jersey.
Generally, these sites are industrial locations that have been
abandoned or are underutilized because of real or perceived
contamination. Many of these sites contain environmental hazards in
the soil, groundwater, or have building surface contamination.
However, they offer substantial potential for productive
job-producing re-use and redevelopment.
Communities often look at brownfields
redevelopment and see a daunting task. Creating a knowledgeable
collaborative team of experts in the process, financing options,
site remediation planning, development strategies, and
implementation expertise is challenging. This is precisely where the
combination of PSE&G’s Economic Development Services group and The
Whitman Companies can help.
Our professionals know brownfields
rehabilitation. They have years of experience with economic
development and “Smart Growth” programs in New Jersey and an
established record of brownfields redevelopment successes in the
state and across the nation. Because of this, we are in a unique
position to help you regain valuable brownfields assets in your
community - beginning with strategic planning and site evaluation
right through to successful collaborative completion of your
brownfields remediation and development project.
